By Chris Francis

Javvad got in touch with me while I was on holiday in Turkey having booked his wedding at the Cardiff Mansion house for November 2012. He was looking for a photographer to cover his wedding for a few hours and was drawn to my style of documentary photography and natural bride and groom photo-shoot. We hit it off straight away and I was so happy to have been involved in their unique celebrations. I arrived early enough be able to capture Jing getting ready, and the guests arriving at the Mansion house which is a stunning building in the heart…

Ben and Julie marry at St Mary’s Golf Club, Pencoed

By ffotos

Ben and Julie got married at St Mary’s Golf Club in November of this year which is very unpredictable for the weather. It was raining in the morning before I left and I was hoping that it would just pass over, commenting on Facebook that I was doing a sun dance! It seemed to work! As I drove down the M4 towards Pencoed from Cardiff the sky was opening up and the sun came out to play! It was my second time to St Mary’s Golf Club this year and it’s a lovely intimate venue, very friendly and interesting stonework.…

Bethan and Karl’s wedding at the Celtic Manor Hotel

By Chris Francis

I was very excited to have been asked to document the wedding of Bethan and Karl who wed in the Manor House at the Celtic Manor in Newport earlier this month. Dubbed as the Mainwaring official photographer, this one felt very personal having shot Bethan’s sister’s wedding in 2010 and being held in the Celtic Manor which I had never shot a wedding there before I was a little nervous. Also not being very well after returning from Turkey the day before, the pressure seemed to be on! Bethan got ready in a very grand suite on the 10th Floor…

By ffotos

Saran and Chris wed in the historic town of Great Barford where they live in mid-September this year. They found me through Facebook, having seen some of my work via a friend’s timeline. I met with Chris at the church a few hours before the ceremony, which was also going to be their daughter Arya’s christening so I could take in the preparations for the day,…

Louise and Gaizka had their wedding blessed by the church at St Fagan’s at the start of this month and I was the lucky photographer chosen to capture the events of the day. These guys met at work 5 years ago and hit it off straight away. Now living in America they contacted me after seeing my wedding work on line. I was thrilled to be asked to document their day! Emily and Jake, Coombe Bissett Wedding – The (other) Wedding of the Year –

By ffotos

My second Wiltshire wedding and also my second Bride named Emily getting married in Wiltshire! What a coincidence! Emily and Jake live in Shanghai and when they decided to get married they thought that they’d like to come back to the UK to do it in style in front of all their family and friends. (Although I’m sure a few of their friends were secretly hoping for a destination wedding!) Emily got ready in her parents’ home in Coombe Bissett, a beautiful converted barn in a sleepy little village. The church – St Michael and All Angels was just around…

Rhian and Chris – The Towers, Swansea Wedding Photography

By ffotos

It had been a while since I had done a church wedding so I was really looking forward to Rhian and Chris’ wedding at St Pauls Church in Port Talbot and the reception at The Towers, Swansea. I arrived early at Rhian’s family home having been invited to capture those important moments during the bridal preparations and thankfully the ‘sideways rain’ was holding off. Rhian’ dress was absolutely stunning and her family were ever so welcoming and with Chris’ parents home just around the corner, it was easy for me to be able to pop over to capture some of…

Lisa and James Pidgeon – St Mark’s Church Cardiff and Park Plaza Wedding Photography

By Chris Francis

Lisa and James got married in St Marks Church, Cardiff at the end of May 2012 and I was honoured to have been invited to capture the preparations at Lisa’s parents’ home and at her local hairdressers Kadji in Whitchurch. Lisa told me previously that she loved flowers and the wonderful bouquets that had been prepared for her were exactly what she wanted and matched the colour scheme perfectly. Whilst Lisa was having her make up done, James was only a few doors away getting ready with his best men. His dad, the owner of Pigeon’s Funeral Directors rolled up…

The marriage of Robin and Sarah at Castell Carreg Cennen, Nr Llandeilo

By Chris Francis

The marriage of Robin and Sarah at Castell Carreg Cennen, Nr Llandeilo The very rural and historic site of Carreg Cennen Castle was the setting for the wedding of Sarah and Robin Owen this May just gone. I have a love of castles and they both did too with the names of all the tables given that of a welsh castle and we also did the pre-wedding shoot around Castell Coch which tied in splendidly with the theme. Robin and Sarah are a fantastic couple they understand each other to a tee. It was fab to see them get married…

The Wedding of Andrew and Angharad – The Oxwich Bay Hotel, The Gower

By ffotos

The weather was looking dodgy as I drove from Cardiff to Morriston, Swansea to capture Angharad her family and Bridesmaid getting ready for their wedding at Oxwich Bay Hotel later that day. It seemed to be holding off on the downpour that seemed imminent as I arrived. Greeted by a warm coffee and an even warmer welcome I managed to get on really well with the family and friends and got some great documentary shots with a few creative shots with the shoes and starwars lego! (you’ll see!!).  I left for the Oxwich Bay hotel and arrived with only small…

The Wedding of Sharyn and Jort Ossebaar – Fonmon Castle

By ffotos

A wonderful wedding, and a joining of two nationalities on Friday the Thirteenth! Obviously not a superstitious couple, Sharyn and Jort Ossebaar tied the knot at Fonmon Castle, in the Vale of Glamorgan in true style. It was an absolute pleasure to document their big day for them and you could really tell that the planning was meticulous. I met the girls in H2O Hair Salon in Barry at around 9:15am where they were all very excitable from the outset. Reminiscing on their history together I captured some really great shots of the fun and laughter that started here and continued…

Aspers Casino Shoot in Swansea was the venue for the promotional shots with Bruce Anderson – The Singer – http://www.bruceanderson-thesinger.co.uk/ Great location but a bit of a rushed job lasting just over an hour. . Christmas Eve Wedding of Kate and Andrew at The Park Hotel, Pandy.

By ffotos

Well, mid 2011 I never expected to be shooting a wedding on Chrismas Eve. But when I got the enquiry from Kate and Andy I was worried that if I did not get home on time that Santa would not be visiting my house that night, especially given the snow we had last year I thought I may have to hire a 4×4! Luckily for me the snow held off this year and I was able to get to the venue and back to Cardiff with no problems, and yes, Santa did pay me a visit! What a lucky guy I…

Tracy and Darren tie the knot at Miskin Manor – 4th December 2011

By Chris Francis

I can not believe that a whole month has passed since this amazing couple tied the knot at the splendid Miskin Manor Hotel on the 4th December 2011. It was such a wonderful day and I was so honoured to be asked to capture the whole day from Tracy and the girls getting ready, right through to the first dance and into the party. The whole event was held at the Manor near Llantrisant, South Wales and dispite it being slightly rainy all day, the clouds broke for just enough time for us to be able to have a few shots outside of the…

St Davids Day Wedding – Alison and Nick – St Peters Church, Cwmbran.

By Chris Francis

It was a beautiful but slightly chilly day on the 1st March 2009 for Alison And Nick’s wedding in Cwmbran. I was so honoured to be invited to capture the whole day, starting with the brides preparations at her family home. Alison and her family were all so excited by the time I got there, but i’m sure there were a few nerves under the excitement of it all! No-one would ever tell though! Alison’s dress was gorgeous and as it was St David’s Day the bridesmaids were in green and yellow. It all tied in wonderfully. The Church a…

Barry, South Wales – ‘Real Wedding’ Pre-shoot

By ffotos

Emily and James Wedding Pre-shoot By Chris Francis Photography – www.ffotos.co.uk A beautiful evening at the Knapp in Barry was a fab place to meet Emily and James for a pre-wedding shoot. The cobbled beach picked up the light of the stunning sunset which provided great texture to the some of the landscape based shots and we also got in some great silhouettes and soft light shots of the couple, who are to be married at Winkworth Farm in Wiltshire on the 29th August this year. It was great to meet James for the first time and I could tell that these…

A Welsh Wedding – Lauren and Owen Hathway – 30th July 2010

By ffotos

It was quite an overcast morning as I made my way up to Porth in the Rhondda to capture the excitement of Lauren and the family getting ready for her big day. Luckily the weather held out and I was able to get some great reportage shots of the excitement of the group of bridesmaids and family members exchanging gifts over a few glasses of champagne. I absolutely love capturing the day and make up preparations, bride, bride’s maids (and bride’s man in this case) and really believe that every wedding should be shot from the beginning to produce a…
