Stunning views from Bryn Meadows Golf Club
I had always wanted to shoot a wedding at Bryn Meadows Golf Club. The views form there are stunning and I really love the grounds. It obviously got attention from the Gavin and Stacey TV comedy being filmed there once, but I had seen many Bryn Meadows wedding photos and wanted to explore the place myself and provide a documentary response to a wedding day there. I know that one day I would get the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Bryn Meadows Golf Club and when Emma and Dan asked me to capture their wedding day there, I was overwhelmed with excitement. We even made our pre wedding meeting there to explore and took a few photos as the sky was just epic that night!
Emma and Dan heard about me via their colleagues (my mates – word of mouth is the best advertising!) at the NHS that recommended me based on my portfolio of work from other venues. I am always pleased to be recommended and after meeting Emma and Dan I was very excited to capture their wedding photos at Bryn Meadows Golf Club. When searching for a wedding photographer, don’t think that the photographer should have shot a venue before, as it is not the venue that the photographer should really be providing a response to. My focus is on you and your guests as subjects, and the venue provides the backdrop, or the stage for the event. The moment and magic are created by you as a wedding party and in my opinion, wedding photography should be focused on those moments.
The whole day was held at Bryn Meadows and I was there to capture the day from getting ready. I normally arrive 2 hours before the wedding ceremony to do this and when both the bride and the groom are getting ready at the same venue it’s great to be able to pop back and fore to capture the various moments that are happening.
Emma and Dan had designed and made a lot of their own wedding favour and decorations and the Autumnal theme really brought some colour to the Bryn meadows function room where the wedding ceremony is held. It was a beautiful ceremony and great to see such fantastic family relationships. Loads of great stuff for a documentary wedding photographer. I’m a heart felt kind a photographer and love all the mushy stuff. Love grandparents. Love all the people that make the day such a wonderful celebration of the love between two people.
95% of my focus on the wedding photos is on pure documentary wedding photography, but I do also like to take a short stroll with the couple at the right time of day to capture a couple of portraits. In the Bryn meadows they let you have a golf cart for this! Ooh look out! Novices on golf carts can be dangerous, luckily Dan was a pro and we nipped down the course to make portraits of the happy couple in the grounds of the course. I really enjoyed the light there despite the slight overcast sky and Emma and Dan we super relaxed and high on love for their Bryn Meadows wedding photos!
