Joanna and Rhys’ Wedding at the Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel, Coychurch

These crazy kids got married in Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel on the 9th September 2012 and what a gorgeous day it turned out to be.

Joanna got ready at home with her sister, bridesmaids and daughter Lily, who was going to be the flower girl and was super excited! A spot of champagne to toast the day off commenced the proceedings for the girls while they were having their hair and make up done and why not ey! The make-up was fab and after I helped Joanna’d Dad sort his cravat out I headed off to the Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel in Coychurch to meet the groom, Rhys and his best men.

I love the Coed Y Mwstwr, it’s set in fab grounds, I love the red brick building set amongst the woodland. I may be a bit bias growing up here and cycling around those lanes as a youngster but it’s a lovely place to hold an event with fab service.

Rhys was buzzing. Was he nervous, excited, or perhaps this is normal I was thinking, but confident all the same. It was a great atmosphere before the ceremony and I got some fab pics of the boys and with Joanna arriving slightly later than expected we managed to fit in a few bolt poses too!

A purple theme really worked well in the ceremony room and the service was lovely, it seemed to fly by but lasted a good 20 mins. I felt hardly had time to catch my breath from running up to the hotel after waiting for Joanna to arrive at the bottom of the driveway. I had a specific shot in mind and wanted to capture the wedding car arriving with the hotel to the right of the shot. I really must start up that gym subscription again!

After the ceremony all the guests spilled out on to the lawn at the back of the hotel and drinks and canapés were served while everyone mingled and we took a few group shots.

The speeches were held after the wedding breakfast and I think revenge was on the cards for the best man in this instance as he was returning the favour from earlier in the year when Rhys had been his best man. The head in hand shots tell it all, especially with Joanna and Rhys both buried in thier digits!

The highlight of the event for me must have been the first dance. DJ’ing by Paddi from Radio Cardiff the first dance was an R’n’B classic. Some quality shapes were thrown and Rhys was singing to Joanna towards the end of the tune!

I stayed around while the party began and more and more people where getting on the dance floor. I’m sure it was going off until well into the night but after using all my memory had had to scoot, and just as it started to rain too!

It was a fab day with much love flowing! Have a great life together now you are married guys catch up soon when I have your final set ready.
