St Donat's Wedding Photography

Nice day for a Whichurch Wedding

In Chris Francis Photography Wedding Blog by ffotosLeave a Comment

I met Ryan and Nicola at a welshbride wedding fayre at St Donat’s Castle and Arts Centre. Ryan was wearing a Rhianna T-shirt which instantly caught my attention! He told me that it is the only T’shirt that Nic will let him wear with another woman on 🙂 Now that is true love I thought! There always needs to be some form of compromise in relationships! Nic and Ryan were fun to talk with and I thought that these are definitely clients for me! They booked me a few days after the fayre and I was overjoyed.

I met with Nicola at Aztec Hair and Beauty in Whichurch where Nic and the girls got their make up and hair done. The make up artists and hairdressers were also invited to the ceremony, Nicola having had her first job at the salon and were all very good friends.

Nicola and Ryan got married in St Mary’s Church, in Whitchurch, Cardiff. Nicola’s local parish, where I met Ryan about half an hour before the ceremony. Unfortunately, photography was not allowed during the ceremony although I was able to document Nicola arriving and the signing of the register. The Vicar was an eccentric old chap, really friendly, even offered to promote my services despite not allowing photography. Crazy I thought to myself but I still must send him some leaflets!

Leaving the Church in a beautiful Rolls Royce, proceedings then continued to St Donat’s Castle in Llantwit major where the wedding breakfast was held. I love St Donat’s and Nic and Ryan wanted to make some portraits around the grounds which are just amazing. Look out for the photographs on the Romeo and Juliet balcony and by the private pool and beach!

Ryan is a bit of a Treky and the theme running through the decoration was a mix of Star Trek and Alice in Wonderland! The centrepieces for the tables were superb. Mad Hatters Wedding Party!

The speeches were hilarious, the best men having an arsenal of old photographs to put Ryan to shame and beautiful words shared by Nicola’s mum. Check out the photographs below and the gallery for a glimpse of the magic that happened that day 🙂 Or see the full gallery here

It was wonderful to be part of your big day guys. Thank you for choosing me to document it. I am looking forward to putting the story into print when we finish the 80 page album. 🙂
